KOTA KINABALU – Bersatu’s relatively young age is irrelevant as its abilities can be felt and accepted by Malaysians nationwide, said deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
He said members should not be upset or worried about being ridiculed by others, and instead, should be committed to championing the people’s plight.
“As the saying goes, age is just a number. This is absolutely true because when your party is standing tall, its age is no longer relevant,” he said in a speech at Sabah Bersatu’s second-anniversary celebrations at the Sabah International Convention Centre here last night.
Present were vice-presidents Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee and Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and state chapter chief Datuk Hajiji Md Noor, who is also chief minister.
Hajiji said the state Bersatu highly appreciates and lauds the commitment and unity of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) components, which led to victory in the state election last September.
“Our real struggle has just begun. This is the time to ensure the state government and politics remain stable, to enable us to function effectively so as to implement various development programmes.”
It is important to bolster the alliance between GRS and Perikatan Nasional parties to ensure Sabah’s interests remain protected, he said.
GRS, comprising PN, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah, formed the state government following the September 26 polls. – Bernama, April 6, 2021
