KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 1,139 fresh Covid-19 cases today, bringing the national tally to 354,468, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
There are another four fatalities, pushing up the death toll to 1,304.
The health director-general tweeted that Sarawak has the most cases at 332, followed by Selangor (294), Johor (102), Penang (93), Kuala Lumpur (84) and Sabah (60).
Kelantan logged 38 infections, Kedah (35), Negri Sembilan (30), Perak (24), Pahang (23), Melaka (13), Terengganu (10) and Labuan (1).
Putrajaya and Perlis saw no new cases.
With 1,199 fresh recoveries, the total now stands at 339,067.
There are 194 coronavirus patients in intensive care, of whom 86 are intubated.
Dr Noor Hisham said 27 new cases are related to clusters at detention centres, namely the Jalan Harapan prison (19), Tembok Tapah (4), Tembok Sri Aman (3), and Choh Dua (1) clusters.
Two deaths were recorded in Sarawak, while Kuala Lumpur and Johor recorded one each, he added.
The country logged a total of 1,431 clusters, including 10 new ones today.
A total of 1,077 clusters have ended, including 10 today – the Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Limau Manis, Jalan Cyber Satu, Vista Hilir, Batu Sebelas, Tembok Bendera, Pona, Jalan Maju Satu, Jalan MP construction site and Kg Sg Burung clusters.
Of the 354 active clusters, 64 recorded new cases. The cluster with the highest number of infections today is the Sg Kawi cluster (119), followed by the Jalan Padang Benggali cluster (20) and Jalan Harapan prison cluster (19).
Dr Noor Hisham said six out of the 10 new clusters are related to workplaces.
Selangor’s Jalan Simpang Balak cluster in Hulu Langat logged 20 cases, while its Jalan Keretapi cluster in Klang and Kuala Selangor logged 81.
Pulau Pinang’s Sg Kluang Empat cluster in Seberang Prai registered 33 cases, and the Jalan Padang Benggali cluster logged 42.
The Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan cluster in Beluru and Miri, Sarawak, recorded 37 cases, while the Sg Kawi cluster in Meradong and Sibu logged 127.
Johor’s Jalan Persiaran Putri cluster in Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Muar and Kluang logged 15 cases; the Indahpura Utama cluster (11); the Tembok Choh Dua cluster (10); and, the Highline cluster (5). – The Vibes, April 7, 2021
