KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government will not allow Ramadan bazaars to be held as the spread of Covid-19 has yet to stabilise in the state.
In announcing this, state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said even the presence of new clusters are still being detected.
Many virus clusters are caused by social gatherings and a low level of standard operating procedure compliance, he added.
Fortunately, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the state today receded to 60, from 112 yesterday – the highest recorded over the past 51 days.
Tawau makes up the bulk of fresh infections at 69 yesterday. The district is currently under a movement control order, which was implemented on April 2.
Health authorities have found 137 cases in the district, involving several clusters with high-risk infections. Health screening is still ongoing.
