KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he is thankful that more grassroots Umno members are beginning to understand what has been happening behind the scenes, in a veiled Facebook post yesterday.
The party’s Ketereh division chief said those who fanatically support certain individuals for whatever reasons, are also struggling to cast doubts and cover up the truth.
“They don’t care if they have damaged MN (Muafakat Nasional), affected BN (Barisan Nasional), and have been trying to thwart PN (Perikatan Nasional).
“Disappointed that their personal agenda was not followed, they designed a hate campaign, to hide the conspiracy.
“Finally, they are busted (kantoi).”
While no names were mentioned, Annuar, who is also Federal Territories minister, had urged Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to “sumpah laknat” or take an oath over a leaked phone conversation purportedly of the duo.
Two days ago, Sinar Harian reported Annuar calling for Zahid to resign as Umno president and to take responsibility and set a good example.
“In my view, Zahid should follow the example set by previous Umno leaders without compulsion.”
Annuar used former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak as an example, saying he resigned when the Altantuya Shaariibuu case surfaced.
He also claimed that the leaked audio clip was genuine.
“I tried listening to it 10 times, I think I can recognise that voice and am 100% sure that it (the audio clip) is genuine.”
Annuar has been repeatedly criticised over his apparent support for the ruling PN coalition and Bersatu.
On January 5, he was sacked as BN secretary-general, and would no longer be Umno’s representative in MN as well as the latter’s secretary-general.
It was reported that Zahid, who is also BN chairman, informed Annuar of the decision.
However, Annuar said he was informed of the decision by the media. Some Umno leaders and warlords had outright told Annuar to leave Umno and join Bersatu after he remained adamant in defending the PN administration. – The Vibes, April 10, 2021
