NIBONG TEBAL – Police found the remains of a young man believed to have been burnt alive days earlier at an oil palm plantation in Jalan Bukit Panchor here.
Cops believe the 28-year-old victim may have been killed in a gangland-style murder or he may have decided to take his own life as the body was found charred with both shoes intact, with his vehicle located 15m from the scene.
Seberang Prai South district police chief Lee Chong Chern confirmed the case, saying that the deceased hailed from Bayan Lepas.
Found near the body were a lighter and a mineral water bottle, which is believed to have been filled with kerosene.
Police did not find anything suspicious inside the deceased’s vehicle, nor was there any sign of struggle.
The victim’s identity card was also found inside the vehicle.
Police are seeking leads into the investigation. – The Vibes, April 11, 2021
