SEPANG – The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) will recommend that the government improve immigration facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, especially the operations office there, said commissioner Tan Sri Mahmood Adam.

He said this following a visit by EAIC to KLIA today to observe the daily operations of enforcement agencies, namely the Immigration Department, police, Customs Department and Health Ministry’s enforcement division.

The EAIC recommendations include increasing the number of immigration counters at the operations office, he told a press conference.

Mahmood said there are currently four immigration counters, and they can handle only 30 foreign visitors at a time.

There are just 200 staff to handle Covid-19 screening for arrivals at any one time, he said, adding that the number is insufficient.

“We will propose that the number of staff be increased.”

He said EAIC will discuss its proposals with the relevant agencies before bringing up the matter to the government.

On complaints involving enforcement agencies at KLIA, Mahmood said 18 have been received since 2015, with all already resolved.

Present during the hour-long KLIA visit were EAIC deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Zainun Ali and commissioner Datuk Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin. – Bernama, April 12, 2021
