KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 1,317 fresh Covid-19 cases and four fatalities, reported Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a statement, he said the overall infection tally now stands at 362,173, with deaths at 1,333.
The country recorded 1,052 new recoveries, bringing the total to 345,055.
Twelve of the fresh infections are imported, of whom eight patients are locals.
Of the nation’s 15,835 active coronavirus cases, 188 are in intensive care, with 84 requiring intubation.
Sarawak recorded the highest number of new infections at 351, followed by Selangor (303), Kuala Lumpur (116), Pulau Pinang (112) and Sabah (109).
Negri Sembilan has 63 cases, followed by Johor (61), Kelantan (58), Kedah (47), Pahang (32), Terengganu (22), Melaka (11), Putrajaya (9) and Perlis (2).
Labuan did not record fresh cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said eight cases from today were detected in detention centres – the Jalan Harapan prison (6), Tembok Sg Udang (1), and Sepang 2 (1) clusters.
He said two fatalities today were recorded in Kuala Lumpur, and one each in Sabah and Selangor.
So far, the country has seen a total of 1,469 clusters, including 10 new clusters today.
Clusters that have ended are at 1,124, including eight today, comprising the Batu Tiga Lama, Jambatan Satu Bombalai, Bukit Bayas, Jalan Distripark B6, Jalan DPB Enam, Lorong Murni, Perusahaan Amari, and Meranti Utama clusters.
Of the 345 clusters still active, 51 logged new infections. The clusters with the most new cases are the Sg Kluang Empat (33), Sg Kluang Satu (32), and Industri Balakong Lapan (30) clusters.
Dr Noor Hisham said seven of the new clusters today are linked to workplaces, while three occurred in the community.
Pahang recorded the Leepang cluster in Rompin with 23 cases, the Indera Mahkota Tiga cluster in Kuantan with 16, and the Kg Paya Pulai cluster in Temerloh with 10.
Selangor saw the Balakong Lapan Industry cluster in Hulu Langat with 56 cases, while Johor detected the Jalan Perjiranan Empat cluster in Johor Baru and Kulai with 19.
Terengganu recorded the Ara Murni cluster Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Setiu, and Kuala Nerus with 16 cases, while Putrajaya and Sepang recorded the Persiaran Salahuddin cluster with 10.
Kedah recorded the Kabu cluster in Baling, Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, and Kulim with 21 cases, while Perak recorded the Jalan Canning Estate cluster in Kinta with 39 cases. – The Vibes, April 12, 2021
