JOHOR BARU – Raids carried out by police to storm the hideout of organised crime group Geng Nicky at Trigon Residence Setiawalk in Puchong, Selangor, on March 20 and 21 were conducted according to Royal Malaysia Police standard operating procedures.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay in a statement today said during the raid, the door locks of 45 residential units were broken and the units searched.
The raids were carried out based on intelligence and credible reasons, he added, including suspecting gang members to be using the condominium as a hiding place to stash away documents and valuables.
“The raids and search were done according to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593) and Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Act 747).”
The statement was in reply to grouses of the condominium residents on the damages to their residences following the raids by police as reported by the media yesterday.
The raids involved 220 officers and men from various departments, including personnel from the Johor police contingent headquarters and Cheras-based Fourth Battalion of the General Operations Force.
Geng Nicky is headed by a local man – Datuk Seri Nicky Liow, 33 – who is wanted by police for being involved in various organised crimes, including fraud syndicates and money laundering.
Liow is also the founder of Winner Dynasty Group, which is headquartered in Puchong. – Bernama, April 17, 2021
