KEPALA BATAS – Six different people in the district aged between 20- and 30-years old have lost a total of RM59,485 in a non-existent cyber investment scheme.

The victims invested in a company called BIA 1983 Resources or BIA Worldwide Solution.

Seberang Prai Utara district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the syndicates convinced the investors that they would get a threefold returns from their investments and their capital investment will still be intact.

The victims did not know each other in this case, and they did not meet any agents nor sign any documents before making any investments.

The six found out about the investment scheme and the sales agent through WhatsApp and social media.

Noorzainy advised the public not to easily fall prey to sweet talk by unauthorised agents and to check with the relevant government agencies before making any investments in any company.

“Do a thorough check with the relevant government before investing hard earned money and seek advice from friends and family members before transferring your money,” he said.

He said the case was being investigated as cheating under Section 520 of the Penal Code and if convicted would face a jail term between one and 10 years, whipping and fine. – The Vibes, April 19, 2021
