KUALA LUMPUR – Interstate travel for work, medical and educational purposes are only allowed from Monday to Thursday, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
With the exception of emergency cases, deaths and long-distance married couples, he added, no interstate travel is allowed from Friday to Sunday.
“Police view seriously the climb in the number of new Covid-19 cases over the past four days, and have beefed up efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic.”
Acryl Sani said any interstate travel application will be approved only for emergency cases and deaths involving immediate family members – namely parents, children and siblings.
Movement to attend social events, such as weddings and gatherings, are strictly prohibited, he added.
“Interstate travel for social events remains prohibited until after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.”
On the non-compliance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) at Ramadan bazaars, Acryl Sani said teams will be deployed to all locations to conduct monitoring.
“If the SOPs are not complied with, police will recommend to local authorities to stop all business activities.” – Bernama, April 20, 2021
