SHAH ALAM – The Klang chapter of Bersatu in Selangor will take the two bodyguards who were beaten by their employers for fasting as its “adopted family members” to ensure their well-being until they find new jobs.
Selangor Bersatu head Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari said the party will also engage a lawyer to help the two men sue the perpetrators for damages.
“The two bodyguards were traumatised, not only physically, but also mentally,” he told a press conference here today.
He also said Selangor Bersatu lauded the police and the prosecutor for taking swift legal action against the suspects.
“This shows that the ruling government does not tolerate criminal acts that challenge the rights and freedom of religion, let alone against Islam, which is the religion of the federation as enshrined in the federal constitution,” he said.
Selangor Bersatu also presented a RM3,000 donation to one of the bodyguards to help him cope with his job loss and cover his expenses during Ramadan.
“We will also try to help find suitable jobs for both of them as soon as possible,” Rashid added. – Bernama, April 23, 2021
