PUTRAJAYA – The daily Covid-19 data and analysis report issued by the Health Ministry is valid and accurate, and verified at all levels of the ministry, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
“The Covid-19 data in Malaysia is handled in accordance with stipulated procedures to ensure its accuracy and validity,” he said in response to claims that the data is manipulated.
In a joint press conference on developments in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme with its coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, here today, Dr Adham said Malaysia has recorded a total of 398,451 infections as of yesterday.
On the procedures involved in gathering the said data, he said test results conducted at government and private clinics and hospitals are uploaded to the Public Health Laboratory Information System, which is monitored by the ministry through district health offices, state Health Departments, and the National Public Health Laboratory.
“The data will then be checked by the officer in charge at the ministry… when the data is confirmed, it will be registered as Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 data.”
He said the data is also used to prepare Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s press statements, and to analyse coronavirus trends in the country.
All health personnel involved in data management, from the district to national levels, are required to maintain the confidentiality of information collected from coronavirus patients, he added. – Bernama, April 28, 2021
