IPOH – Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun has denied that he was ordered to undergo a 14-day quarantine, just like Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad.
Zolkafly explained that he was not involved in the programme attended by Saarani in Lenggong recently.
“I was not ordered to undergo quarantine like the menteri besar and I was not a close contact of an individual who tested positive for Covid-19 in Lenggong,” he told Bernama here today.
Saarani was told to undergo quarantine from yesterday until May 11 after becoming close contact with an individual while attending a programme in Lenggong.
“At 5pm, he (Saarani) said he was unable to attend the Perak Nuzul Al-Quran 2021 celebration at Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque here,” Saarani’s political secretary Datuk Sham Mat Sahat said yesterday.
“He told me to represent him at a breaking of fast in Batu Kurau on Friday as he would be in quarantine.
“However, I do not have complete information and cannot elaborate further,” he said when met by reporters after attending the event, which was also attended by the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah.
Saarani had chaired the Perak state executive council meeting yesterday morning and had also attended a media conference at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan.
There was speculation earlier that Zolkafly was also involved in the programme, and was ordered into 2 weeks of self-isolation due to similarly being a close contact of a Covid-19 positive individual.
But Sham said he had not obtained information on the matter, contradicting previous reports. – Bernama, April 29, 2021
