IPOH – Perak police will beef up controls to prevent people from attempting interstate travel, especially to east coast states, ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next month.
State police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said stricter inspections are being enforced at all roadblocks, as it is believed that many people remain adamant about crossing state lines to return to their hometowns.
“The routes between Perak and Pahang, especially Jalan Cameron Highlands here, are the main ones taken to travel back to Kelantan and Pahang, so checks will be intensified,” he told a press conference this morning.
He reminded the public not to violate the interstate travel ban or forge travel permits, saying police will not hesitate to impose fines and order motorists to turn back.
He said Perak police have issued about 120 compounds for breaches of the recovery movement control order this month up to Wednesday.
Those returning to their hometowns within the state after the ban on inter-district travel is lifted are encouraged to inform their respective district operations rooms, he added. – Bernama, April 30, 2021
