IPOH – Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad is confirmed free of Covid-19 after his test results came back negative.

The Perak Menteri Besar’s Office, in a statement, said that the result was issued by the Kinta health office at 4.30pm yesterday.

“He did the screening at 2.30pm on Thursday at the Covid-19 assessment centre at the Ipoh City Council tennis arena.

“The menteri besar, however, will continue his quarantine until May 3 as scheduled under the home surveillance order issued by the Health Ministry,” the statement read.

Saarani is scheduled to return to work on May 4 after he came into close contact with a Covid-19 positive patient at a programme in Lenggong on April 23.

On Wednesday, Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun was also said to be ordered into Covid-19 quarantine for reportedly attending the same event.

But the exco later issued a denial, explaining that he was not involved in the programme attended by Saarani in Lenggong. – Bernama, May 1, 2021
