JOHOR BARU – More than 800 students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have expressed their intention to return home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, according to its deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs), Prof Dr Shamsul Sahibuddin.
He said this was based on special forms filled by some 25% of the 3,200 students on campus wishing to make the journey home.
“So far, the university has decided to allocate six buses to carry students home to the east, north and central zones and four buses to the south zone.
“The buses will be making trips from May 6 to May 11,” he said in a statement today.
This follows the Higher Education Ministry's announcement on Thursday that more than 100,000 students from higher learning institutions across the country, except Sarawak, would be allowed to return home for Aidilfitri.
The ministry said students would be going home in stages between May 7 and 12, before reporting back to campus between May 15 and 20. – Bernama, May 2, 2021
