KUCHING – Hari Raya visits in Sarawak areas under the conditional movement control order have been limited to the first three days of the holiday.

Based on the latest celebration guidelines issued by the Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) today, the period of visits is to be between 1st and 3rd Syawal, and visitors are only allowed to visit close family members.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee decided yesterday to allow Aidilfitri celebrations for seven days in the state from 1st to 7th Syawal, limited to close family members.

SIC, however, retained the committee’s decision to allow Aidilfitri voluntary prayers at all mosques, surau, musolla and premises with SIC approval only, with attendance according to the capacity limit of the premises, subject to 1m physical distancing.

Hari Raya visits, Aidilfitri prayers and grave visits, however, are not permitted in areas under the enhanced movement control order in the state. – Bernama, May 5, 2021
