SEREMBAN – Malaysia will receive 3.52 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from Pfizer-BioNtech, Sinovac and AstraZeneca this month, with more to come later, so as to expedite immunisation.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the amount is for two doses per person, and some 1.7 million people will benefit.
“The supply will be higher from June. This month alone, we are getting 3.52 million doses. In June, July and August, we will get more. So, we are confident that we can speed up the vaccination process,” he told reporters here today.
“The ministry has procured and confirmed delivery according to schedule, including for the third phase (of the vaccination programme).”
He said the government has approved 4,000 jabs for foreign missions, involving diplomats, counsellors and their dependents, starting this week.
“So far, we have allowed diplomats from the British high commission, while the Australian high commission is in the process of providing its list (of recipients) so that we can forward it to MySejahtera first.”
Dr Adham earlier today tweeted that 632,366 individuals have completed the two-dose vaccination regimen as of yesterday.
Also as of yesterday, he said, 40.6% of the population, or 9,848,371 people, have registered for vaccination, with Selangor seeing the highest rate at 52.2%, or 2,528,707 individuals. – Bernama, May 6, 2021
