KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government will ban inter-district travel throughout the enforcement of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) from May 10 to 16.
Exemption is granted only in the case of emergencies, said state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in a statement tonight.
He said Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang are considered one district for the duration of the CMCO.
“Police will set up roadblocks to curb inter-district movement during this period.”
Sabah previously allowed inter-district activities involving its six zones.
Masidi, who is also state Covid-19 spokesman, said the Sabah administration has outlined standard operating procedures for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Festive activities, including door-to-door takbir and open houses, are not allowed in areas under the enhanced MCO, he said.
Takbir is allowed at mosques and surau, however, and packed meals can be given to congregants.
“Aidilfitri prayers at mosques and surau are allowed subject to the conditions set by state religious authorities. Children aged 12 years and below, and high-risk groups, are not allowed to attend,” said Masidi.
He said cemetery visits are allowed for no more than 30 minutes, with a maximum of six people, and with physical distancing observed.
House visits are permitted, but only among family members living in the same district and limited to 20 people at any one time, he said.
