KUALA LUMPUR – Be prepared for surprise home checks by the Petaling Jaya police contingent in their effort to curb Hari Raya Aidilfitri visits and open houses.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid has warned against the planning of such events as organisers will be fined RM25,000.
Those caught visiting during Raya will face RM5,000 compounds, he told The Star.
“We want to ensure that no one is organising open houses or entertaining visitors, which is prohibited,” he said yesterday.
Eight police teams have been tasked with conducting spot checks and neighbourhood patrols starting tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Petaling Jaya police and PJ City Council have been monitoring traders and hawkers to ensure SOP compliance.
Bukit Aman Traffic and Enforcement Department deputy director Datuk Mohd Nadzri Husain was reported as saying that the week-long Ops Rentas from Monday until May 16 is to prevent those trying to cross state borders for balik kampung.
He said roadblocks have been set up along the North-South Expressway and East Coast Expressway.
“Roadblocks will not remain fixed in one location, but will keep changing after a few hours,” he was quoted as saying yesterday.
