KUALA LUMPUR – Crowds of people are at the AstraZeneca vaccination facility at the World Trade Centre here waiting for their jab appointments.
The place is a hive of activity with people turning up to be vaccinated on the first day after the Hari Raya public holidays. The main entrance at the lower ground of the complex is a scene of long lines of those who have made their appointments for the jabs.
Many of those who came have stood outside for hours, barely adhering to physical distancing while waiting. Based on observation, the recipients would have to queue outside the entrance at least half an hour before the appointments stated on their MySejahtera app.

Dozens of policemen have been seen ushering at least three long queues stretching some 150m.
Earlier, coordinating minister for the Covid-19 vaccination programme Khairy Jamaluddin advised individuals to not show up at the vaccination centre without confirmed appointments.
“The AstraZeneca vaccination centre at WTC KL is operating at 8,000 vaccinations today, up from 2,000 a day. If you do not have an appointment, don’t show up. Also do not show up hours before your appointment.”
In a reply to The Vibes’ Twitter post on the matter, @kraftwurker said his appointment, scheduled for 12.30pm, was only met at nearly 3pm but not before “a b***-load of queuing.
Twitter user @cookiemonstaly said the congestion was already building up as early as their 9am slot, while @syafique said two friends successfully got their jabs at WTC KL today. – The Vibes, May 15, 2021
