IPOH – Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad has dismissed as false a claim being spread via WhatsApp that a full lockdown will be implemented in the state on Friday.
No such decision has been made, he said, with discussions on the matter ongoing.
“I’m not sure where the source of the information came from. We do have a series of meetings on the implementation of the movement control order, but no final decision has been made.
“In fact, this afternoon, there will be a meeting to address the Covid-19 situation in Perak that has become increasingly worrying, especially in Kinta, Hulu Perak, Larut and Selama districts,” he told a virtual press conference.
The viral message claimed, among others, that the state is seeing a high Covid-19 infectivity rate involving the South African variant. – Bernama, May 19, 2021
