KUCHING – The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry has called on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as micro businesses to prepare to operate under stricter standard operating procedures (SOPs) should the number of Covid-19 cases continue to rise.
Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that business owners should already have made the necessary preparations to ensure that their operations comply with the SOPs, including making sure their premises provide QR codes, thermometers, and hand sanitisers.
He also said that he hoped SMEs and micro businesses have digitalised their operations to not only cushion the impact of the movement control order but to also cater to consumers’ new preference for shopping online.
“We have been in this situation for almost two years and business owners should by now already have taken all necessary measures to ensure that their operations are able to operate in the Covid-19 environment,” he said in a statement today. – Bernama, May 23, 2021
