JOHOR BARU – Johor police have warned employers, especially those in the industrial sector, to strictly adhere to movement control order standard operating procedures or risk having their premises shut down.
State police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said there has been a complaint made against a senior official at a Pasir Gudang factory, a foreign national, who refused to cooperate on matters concerning worker capacity.
The complaint was filed with local authorities, and the official in question issued a warning, he told a press conference here today.
“I met the factory official concerned and gave him a warning. Nationality here does not matter. There are laws and regulations to follow in Malaysia.
“There may be more (factories) doing the same. If they refuse to follow the regulations, and there are more complaints, we will shut them (factories) down.”
He said a Covid-19 SOP compliance operation conducted by the Health Ministry and local authorities at two factories in Pasir Gudang revealed some workers not abiding by the rules.
Four workers from one of the factories, which produces wires, and three from the other facility, manufacturing tiles, were slapped with RM1,000 compounds for failing to check-in on MySejahtera. – Bernama, May 25, 2021
