KUALA LUMPUR – Travellers into Labuan will be required to take RT-PCR Covid-19 tests three days prior to entering the federal territory, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
This will take effect from Thursday until June 9 in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 there.
“Additional restrictions include compulsory 10-day quarantine at home for Labuan natives and for civil servants, either at their homes or hotels.
“Foreigners are subjected to a compulsory 14-day quarantine at a hotel,” he said in a statement today.
Those using transport cards, he said, are required to undergo a PCR test every two weeks and compulsory RTK antigen testing every week.
Exchange of shipping crew will be postponed while crew planning to disembark to Labuan will be required to undergo 14 days of quarantine, in addition to undergoing PCR tests.
“Non-conventional boats (kapal kumpit) will not be allowed to disembark at Labuan during the same period.”
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri announced that the Bagan Serai subdistrict in Kerian, Perak, will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from May 27 to June 9 after the Health Ministry detected high infectivity rate within the single locality.
“As of yesterday, the MoH has conducted screening tests involving 144 individuals and 54 cases of Covid-19 were detected.
“After making a risk assessment with various agencies in the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the MoH, the government agreed to impose the EMCO in the area.”
He also announced an EMCO during the same period for Felda Redong 1 in the Labis subdistrict of Segamat, Johor, following 67 Covid-19 cases detected after 361 individuals underwent screening.
Twelve Covid-19 cases at the Rumah Panjang Isa Anak Blone, Rumah Panjang Ben Anak Kuleng and SK Telok Gelam in Daro, Sarawak also saw the EMCO implemented from May 27 to June 9.
Ismail Sabri announced that the EMCO at Ulu Lepar, Gali subdistrict, Raub, Pahang; Rumah Panjang Dinggai, Sarikei, Sarawak; the Baleh hydroelectric dam construction site, Kapit, Sarawak; (MRSM) Pengkalan Hulu, Perak; five localities in Sg Klau, Raub, Pahang; and, three villages in Tras, Raub, Pahang will be lifted tomorrow.
A total of 694 individuals were arrested for SOP violations yesterday as a result of 70,972 inspections conducted by the compliance operations task force, with 685 individuals compounded, while nine individuals were remanded.
Among the offences recorded were failing to record personal details/check-ins of premises (166 cases), not wearing masks (129), no physical distancing (179), non-compliance to MCO (58), unauthorised interstate/district travel (63) and others (99).
