SIBU – Lanang MP Alice Lau Kiong Yieng has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a Facebook post today, she said: “I tested positive for Covid-19 on May 25, and am currently going through quarantine at a designated quarantine centre in Sibu.”

The lawmaker said she feels fine at the moment.

She said her son, a close contact, tested negative, but will undergo home quarantine and a second swab test.

Lau said a DAP representative will help the Health Ministry identify her other close contacts.

She urged members of the public who have come into contact with her not to panic, and to get tested and continue taking precautions to prevent a potential spread.

She said her parliamentary service centre will be closed in accordance with the standard operating procedures in place in Sibu.

“However, my assistants, who have been cleared (of the virus) and have not been in direct contact with me, will continue to serve our constituents.”

Those in need of immediate assistance from the service centre can contact Lau’s aide Stanley Chiew at 016-800-5838. – Bernama, May 27, 2021
