KOTA KINABALU – A 53-year-old woman who had completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in March has been identified as the source of the new Desa Ranggu cluster in Sabah.
She had been administered the injections on March 5 and March 17.
The woman had shown symptoms on May 15 and was found positive on May 20 at the Tawau Health Clinic.
“Following a screening of close contacts, health authorities found 17 new positive cases, bringing the total to 18 cases,” said Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Masidi Manjun.
The index cases are believed to have been infected at a Hari Raya celebration at the woman’s house on May 13.
She also later infected close contacts at three more houses in Taman Desa Ranggu and a relative’s house in Kg Jawa Tawau before May 22.
Health authorities are still conducting screenings on other close contacts. – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
