KUALA LUMPUR – Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has hinted at more stringent measures, as Malaysia registers a record-high 8,290 Covid-19 cases today.
Ismail Sabri in a Facebook post said he has taken note of the recent climb in cases, adding that the steps that need to be taken are not the easiest, but the best to ensure public safety.

In his daily updates today, the minister slammed those who violated the interstate and inter-district travel ban during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, resulting in the detection of 24 Covid-19 clusters as of yesterday.
“Cumulatively, as many as 850 cases were detected in these clusters, with 3,309 individuals screened for Covid-19.
“More worrying is that the Health Ministry has found most cases were asymptomatic. Some 699 asymptomatic cases were recorded as opposed to 151 symptomatic cases.”
The ministry’s data showed that the largest Hari Raya cluster was in Tumpat, Kelantan, which logged 224 cases, while the Simpang Sahari cluster in Labuan has 123 cases.
Currently, the country is under its third movement control order, albeit with less restrictions than the first one imposed in March last year. – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
