KOTA KINABALU – Sabah will adopt the total lockdown directive from June 1 until 14 issued by the federal government, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.
Hajiji said the state’s move to adhere to the order announced by the prime minister is to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Under the total lockdown, only essential economic sectors and services are allowed to operate.
The full standard operating procedures for the lockdown in Sabah will be announced soon.
Earlier today, the state banned dining at restaurants from tomorrow until June 2. It is currently under a conditional movement control order.
Sabah recorded 308 new Covid-19 cases today – a record high, after fluctuating in the three-digit range over the past weeks.
The spike in infections is largely blamed on close contacts during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
