KOTA KINABALU – Media coverage will be allowed to operate from 7am until 7pm during the lockdown starting tomorrow until June 14.
The state Disaster Management Committee for Covid-19 said in a statement that news outlets are allowed to operate to ensure the dissemination of accurate information on government efforts.
It states print news agencies will be allowed to operate as usual.
“But the operation hours for media coverage for print and online will be from 7am to 7pm. For broadcasting media, processing of news materials will be allowed until 3am.”
News outlets need to apply to the committee for any extension of working hours, it added.
On another note, village chiefs have been told to be on the alert for any activities that go against health SOPs.
They were also urged to report to the local governments about any incidents of infections and deaths, as well as take steps to control the entry of outsiders into their villages, such as recording their details.
