KUALA LUMPUR – Activities in the furniture sub-sector and supply of wood products are allowed to continue to facilitate hospitals, vaccination centres, quarantine centres, low-risk treatment centres, and other facilities related to Covid-19.
Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said however that activities in the wood and kenaf sub-sectors were not allowed for the duration of the total lockdown from June 1-14.
“Hence, for temporary convenience, all companies, estates, and smallholders of agri-commodities for approved sub-sectors are allowed to use their approval letters from the Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry and agencies only once to operate before their registrations in the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System 3.0 by the International Trade and Industry Ministry are approved,” he said in a statement today.
Khairuddin said all industry players must ensure adherence to the new standard operating procedures that have been set.
He said employers must monitor staff compliance more frequently, ensuring that staff are using the MySejahtera app, that their body temperatures are not above 37.5 degrees Celsius, and that they are without symptoms.
“If they fail to do this, legal action will be taken against the premise owners,” he said.
According to him, agri-commodity employers must refer to the latest Agri-commodity Sector SOPs that have been updated by the Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry.
“The Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry hopes tighter SOP monitoring will help lower the number of Covid-19 cases, alleviate the people’s concerns, and hasten economic recovery,” he said.
