KUALA LUMPUR – Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has arranged for victims of the light rail transit crash last week, as well as their affected family members, to undergo counselling.
The rail operator has an agreement with the Social Welfare Department’s Psychology and Counselling Division to provide the service, and it is not limited to one session.
“They just need to contact Prasarana to arrange an appointment, and meet us at any time,” the statement quoted Nuridawati Mohd Noor, the division’s senior assistant director who led a team of counsellors during the handover of goodwill payments to victims, as saying.
Prasarana said 31 passengers involved in the accident were present for the handover at the Dang Wangi LRT station here today.
The company said it has been able to contact 136 of the total 213 passengers involved.
“We are actively trying to contact the remaining 77, who have yet to be traced. We hope they can contact Prasarana soon so that we can channel assistance.”
It said these individuals can call 014-737-1330 or email to [email protected] for assistance and counselling.
In the incident about 8.30pm on May 24, an LRT train without passengers on board collided with another carrying 213 people in a tunnel between the Kg Baru and KLCC stations.
