ISKANDAR PUTERI – The Johor government will announce its third economic stimulus package, dubbed PRE Ihsan Johor 3.0, next week.
Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the package would focus on two things, namely empowering the response to the state’s Covid-19 outbreak and strengthening the social safety assistance for people who are in need.
“The PRE Ihsan Johor 3.0 to be announced will be implemented immediately so that it reaches the target groups as soon as possible while hastening economic recovery efforts.
“This package will complement the initiatives and assistance made by the federal government and is a continuation of the PRE Ihsan Johor 1.0 and PRE Ihsan Johor 2.0,“ he said in a statement here, today.
As of May 23 this year, PRE Ihsan Johor 1.0 had benefitted 295,464 recipients involving RM167.33 million while PRE Ihsan Johor 2.0 had provided benefits to 387,674 recipients with a total value of RM109.48 million.
Welcoming the initiatives announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin under the RM40 billion Pemerkasa Plus last night, Hasni said all these initiatives would be able to achieve their objectives in efforts to enhance public health capacity, while helping the rakyat and supporting businesses.
“I am grateful for the various efforts and assistance given to all levels of society particularly groups affected by the enforcement of the total (lockdown), which is still affecting the lives of people across the globe.
“A huge allocation is made to enhance the healthcare sector and give aid to the people, and this effort is very important and must be expedited in ensuring the measures taken to fight the Covid-19 pandemic will succeed,” he said.
To make sure the initiatives can be implemented smoothly and achieve their objectives, he said all parties involved must play their respective roles in complying with the prescribed standard operating procedures. – Bernama, June 1, 2021
