JOHOR BARU – Johor excos have agreed to contribute three months’ salary to the state disaster fund beginning this month, with the monies to be used to bolster the public healthcare system amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the matter was decided in a weekly meeting yesterday, adding that the move involves him as well, in addition to the 10 excos.
“I would like to invite all assemblymen in Johor to contribute part of their allowance to the state disaster fund to help the people,” he said in a statement today.
“I also call on the private sector, corporations, government-linked companies and concerned individuals to contribute, so that more people in need can benefit.”
Since its establishment last year, the fund has received a total of RM44.83 million in cash and equipment donated by various parties. To date, RM41.65 million has been used for the rakyat’s benefit.
In another statement, Hasni said the state government has agreed to extend the deadline for quit rent payment until September 30, with a rebate of 10%, while the 20% late payment fine with a minimum rate of RM10, which was to take effect on June 1, is extended to October 1.
