KOTA KINABALU – The Kapayan constituency service centre team will be on the ground to monitor the situation at Rumah Murah Kepayan, which will be under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for two weeks starting tomorrow.
Kapayan rep Jannie Lasimbang, in a statement today, said the team will ensure that residents get food aid, and that Covid-19 testing and sanitisation are carried out when necessary.
“We have also contacted the relevant authorities, like Tg Aru police, Kota Kinabalu City Hall and Health Ministry, to ensure residents of Rumah Murah Kepayan are well aware of the situation.”
The area has over 300 families, comprising 1,000 to 1,500 individuals.
Jannie said barbed wire will be placed on the periphery of some places, and urged residents to remain calm and plan their grocery trips, as only one member from each family is allowed to go out for this purpose.
“While essential service employees are allowed to go out to work, it is likely that no outsiders will be allowed to enter the Rumah Murah Kepayan area, including food deliverymen, and there will be only one designated entry and exit point.”
The Sabah Wanita DAP chief called on the government, particularly the disaster operations centre, to distribute food aid to locals as soon as possible.
She recommended that the aid be given to all residents, with those who have lost their source of income or unable to go to work prioritised.
