KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council will implement the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in four localities in Pahang and seven in Sabah.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said the EMCOs will begin on Tuesday and end on June 21.
He said the affected localities in Pahang are Jaya Gading in Kuantan, which involves Kg Jaya Gading, a portion of Kg Seri Damai, and Bandar Baru Jaya Gading, following the emergence of 44 Covid-19 cases after 466 individuals were screened in the areas.
The other locality is the Gebeng industrial area in Kuantan, which recorded 56 cases after 1,900 individuals were screened.
In Sabah, the affected localities are Kg Ongkilan in Kota Marudu (15 cases after 77 tested), Kg Pulutan and Kg Murni C in Nabawan (20 cases after 117 tested), Kg Bolong Baru in Tuaran, (12 cases after 53 tested), Kg Tamalang and Kg Tuguson in Kota Belud (12 cases after 24 tested).
Ismail Sabri said Kg Bergosong in Pulau Sebatik, Tawau, will also be placed under EMCO after nine cases were recorded following the Covid-19 screening of 16 individuals.
On the ease of restrictions, he said EMCOs will be lifted earlier in seven subdistricts in Kuantan. They were scheduled to end on June 7.
The subdistricts are Beserah, Kuala Kuantan 1, Kuala Kuantan 2, Penor, Sg Karang, Ulu Kuantan and Ulu Lepar.
The EMCO in Taman Abaka in Ladang Table, Tawau, will also be lifted after the Health Ministry confirmed the reduction of cases and clusters there.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said 982 individuals were arrested yesterday for violating standard operating procedures, with 933 issued compounds and 49 remanded.
The offences included failure to wear face masks (222), failure to record details when entering premises (150), crossing state or district lines, and dine-ins (133), failure to observe physical distancing (125), exceeding the number of passengers allowed in a car (105), failure to comply with movement restrictions (89) and others (158).
Ismail Sabri said authorities also detained 27 illegal immigrants and seized two vehicles yesterday. – The Vibes, June 6, 2021
