KUALA LUMPUR – Media practitioners will receive their Covid-19 vaccine appointments today and get their jabs starting Wednesday, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said journalists and photographers who have signed up for the jabs will begin receiving their appointment dates starting today.
“Media practitioners will start receiving their vaccine appointments today. We are still finalising the list and it is being reviewed at the moment.
“We are steadily pushing it (appointments) out,” he said after visiting the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) vaccination centre (PPV) today.
The hashtag #CucukMyPress has been trending on social media since yesterday following the frustration from members of the press who have not received appointment dates despite being promised that they will be getting them in the first week of June.
In his press conference last week, Khairy said a total of 5,687 media practitioners from 114 registered media agencies would receive Covid-19 shots.
He said the decision taken by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force is in line with the government’s decision to give priority to frontliners, including teachers and media practitioners.
On April 28, Khairy said that 1,500 media personnel in the country would be vaccinated in May as they were at risk of contracting Covid-19 while on duty. – The Vibes, June 7, 2021
