KOTA KINABALU – The magistrates’ court here has extended the remand order for  Philip Among, the Sabah Star member embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal involving an Unduk Ngadau beauty pageant contestant.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abie granted the remand on Philip Among for another three days after his four-day remand ends today.

Among was remanded last Friday (June 4) and investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person.

The offence carries a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment or whipping or both, if found guilty.

The remand extension was made virtually via Zoom.

It was learned from the Among’s lawyer that the investigation officer applied for an additional three days of remand to avoid witness-tampering during the investigation, and to provide more time for the investigation.

Among is represented by counsels Marcel Jude Joseph and Abdul Fikry Jaafar Abdullah.
