KUALA LUMPUR – Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has left Istana Negara about 4.20pm today after an hour-long audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He was seen exiting the palace gates in a heavily tinted black Range Rover SUV without speaking with reporters. He had arrived at 3.10pm.

Shafie is the last party leader the king is meeting with today.

Prior to that, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had left Istana Negara at 3.02pm, also without speaking to the press, after an hour-long audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

He had arrived at the palace about 2pm in a grey Proton X-70.

The Pejuang chief and co-founder was the third party leader to engage in a four-eyed meeting with the king today, after PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and MCA president Wee Ka Siong’s audiences earlier this morning.

Dr Mahathir is also set to address the press via Zoom at 4.30pm.

The ruler has been summoning major party leaders from across the country over the past week, with Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal slotted in for a meeting later today at 3.30pm.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was granted an audience about 8am, before his pre-cabinet meeting.

His meeting was followed by one with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 11am and meetings with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, and Amanah chief Mohamad Sabu later that afternoon.

Tomorrow will see Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi being called to the palace.

Sultan Abdullah will also speak to Sarawak’s ruling GPS coalition leaders via a virtual meeting on June 14. – The Vibes, June 10, 2021
