KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 6,849 new Covid-19 cases today.
The Klang Valley accounted for more than half of these with 2,558 in Selangor and 884 in Kuala Lumpur.
Sarawak was third in terms of share of Covid-19 infections detected in the country over the past day with 699.
Negri Sembilan had 685, followed by Johor with 426, Sabah (309), Kelantan (248), Penang (205), Labuan (176), Melaka (170), Kedah and Perak (161 each), Pahang (89), Terengganu (66), Putrajaya (10) and Perlis (2).
In all, the country has logged 646,411 infections since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry reported another 84 coronavirus deaths, taking total fatalities to 3,768.
It said 912 patients are in intensive care, of whom 458 require respiratory aid.
With another 7,749 recoveries today, the overall figure stands at 563,779.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry recorded 16 clusters in the last 24 hours, making for a cumulative 2,438.
Of the total, 755 clusters are still active.
