Couple among 3 nabbed on suspicion of trafficking RM9.3 mil drugs

KUALA LUMPUR – Police arrested three individuals, including a married couple, suspected of involvement in trafficking RM9.3 million worth of drugs, in Cheras and Kajang on Saturday.

All the suspects are locals aged between 21 and 31.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said officers raided four houses and found various types of drugs in one of them.

Also found were ingredients to make heroin (100kg) and ketamine (9.8kg), and 59,000 Erimin 5 pills.

“The houses were used to store drugs. They have been rented for three months by one of the suspects,” Azmi told a press conference at the city police headquarters today.

“The trio tested negative for drugs. However, all of them have previous drug-related criminal records.”

In addition to the narcotics, police also seized five vehicles and RM400 in cash.

The suspects have been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for investigation under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama, June 11, 2021
