KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia saw a decrease in Covid-19 cases today, logging 5,793 new infections.
The country recorded 6,849 cases yesterday.
The Health Ministry said Selangor continues to log the highest number of cases at 1,582 infections.
This was followed by Negri Sembilan (618), Sarawak (569), Kuala Lumpur (559), Johor (504), Sabah (378), Kelantan (337), Labuan (250) and Perak (218).
The states that saw less than 200 cases were Penang (198), Melaka (178), Kedah (171), Pahang (121), Terengganu (82), Putrajaya (23) and Perlis (5).
This takes the cumulative tally of cases reported since the outbreak of the pandemic to 652,204.
Meanwhile, the ministry reported 76 deaths, all of which involved locals. Three of the deceased were in their 30s.
One of them was a 31-year-old male who passed away in Labuan Hospital, as well as a 36-year-old female and a 31-year-old female who both passed away in Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Seremban.
The 31-year-old male and 36-year-old female had no pre-existing medical conditions, while the 31-year-old female had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.
As for clusters, the ministry reported 761 remaining active, including the 24 new ones identified today.
15 of the clusters involve worksites in Selangor, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, and Kedah.
The worksites clusters cumulatively registered 382 infections.
Meanwhile, the ministry reported seven community clusters involving Kelantan, Sarawak, and Sabah, which cumulatively recorded 170 Covid-19 cases.
Only two clusters involving detention centres were identified in Penang and Kelantan, both registering 56 infections in total. – The Vibes, June 12, 2021
