KOTA KINABALU – Six individuals, four of them women, have been detained by police for flouting the health and safety standard operating procedures at an entertainment outlet.

Codenamed Op Noda, the early morning raid found six individuals and a premises operator inside the outlet located in Jalan Pantai.

All arrested were aged between 17 and 54, two women and one man being non-citizens. Three people tested positive for drugs.

The operator was fined RM10,000 while the individuals were fined RM1,500 each.

The operation was led by Sabah’s Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Investigation Division.

Its chief Alhusin Halil said the premises violated the movement control order SOPs on business operations.

“All of them have been detained under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 for not observing social distancing, being in an entertainment outlet, and not registering via MySejahtera,” he said when contacted today.

He said the operator is also being investigated under Section 4 of the State Public Entertainment Ordinance. – The Vibes, June 13, 2021
