KUALA LUMPUR – Two villages in Sarawak and several localities in Sabah are to come under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 17 to 30, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In Sarawak, the areas involved are Kg Goebilt and Kg Muara Tebas in Kuching, which recently recorded 24 and 22 Covid-19 cases, respectively.
“The EMCO in these areas is to restrict movement and curb Covid-19 transmissions from high-risk areas,” said Ismail Sabri in a statement today.
In Sabah, eight localities will be imposed with EMCO, namely Kg Rancangan and Kg Kijang Merotai, Kalabakan; Kg Tg Batu Tengah and Taman Semarak Megah, Tawau; Kg Rampayan and Kg Kionsom Kecil, Kota Kinabalu; Kg Taun Gusi Peninting, Kota Belud; and, People’s Housing Project (PPR) Taman Ehsan, Kudat.
Ismail Sabri said the EMCO in Kg Rancangan will be implemented after 11 cases were reported there, and in Kg Kijang Merotai, eight cases were reported.
In Kg Tanjung Batu Tengah, there are 15 Covid-19 cases, while Taman Semarak Megah has 16, Kg Rampayan (10), Kg Kionsom Kecil (13), and Kg Taun Gusi Peninting and PPR Taman Ehsan have eight each.
He said the EMCO in Kg Simpangan in Tuaran, scheduled to end tomorrow, will be extended to June 30 after more cases were detected among residents there.
The EMCO in Taman Nikmat, Kg Pirasan and Kg Dundau in Kota Belud will end tomorrow, while the one in Lorong Taman Utama 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Sandakan and Kg Sepagaya Hulu in Silam, Lahad Datu, will end tonight.
The EMCO in Kg Sugud, Penampang will also end tonight, same as the one in Lorong Ulu Sibuga 5 and 9 in Sandakan and three settlements in Batu 9 Lekir in Manjung, Perak – which will end earlier than scheduled.
“The EMCO in Felda Tersang 1, 2 and 3 in Raub, Pahang, will also end tonight, earlier than scheduled,” said Ismail Sabri.
On standard operating procedure violations, he said 819 individuals were compounded and 35 remanded yesterday. – Bernama, June 15, 2021
