JOHOR BARU – Thirty-two individuals have been compounded for flouting movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures by playing badminton at a sports centre in Skudai two days ago.
Johor Baru Utara district police chief Rupiah Abd Wahid in a statement today said the group comprises players and the sports centre’s owner, all aged between 18 and 44.
She said police raided the premises in Batu 6, Jalan Skudai, about 5.30pm following a public tip-off.
“The owner was compounded RM2,000, and the rest, RM1,500 each, for playing badminton during the MCO period and not observing physical distancing.
“The offence falls under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.” – Bernama, June 17, 2021
