KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya will allow gyms, and private football and futsal facilities in areas under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) to operate beginning Monday.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told a daily online briefing today that gyms can reopen as exercise activities there are not conducted in groups, while the number of players on football fields and futsal courts is limited to 10.

“The government has received applications and appeals from the Youth and Sports Ministry, and has agreed to allow gyms to operate with tight SOPs in place.

“For football and futsal (facilities), they can operate for practice sessions only.”

He said detailed guidelines will be released by the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Ismail Sabri said businesses that require travel by more than two people per vehicle can obtain permission to do so from police.

“This is to avoid them being issued with compounds.”

He added that police have nabbed 467 people for violating CMCO rules, most of them for not wearing a mask in public places. – The Vibes, October 17, 2020
