MIRI – Another 11 longhouses are placed under a two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting today, most of them in northern and central regions, following a surge in Covid-19 infections.
These longhouses are Rumah Panjang Buli, Rumah Panjang Salang, Rumah Panjang Ulan, Rumah Panjang Dayang, Rumah Panjang Ricky (in Tatau district), Rumah Panjang Ijan, Rumah Panjang Lawang in the Pakan district, Rumah Panjang Jawa, Rumah Panjang John, Rumah Panjang Assun and Rumah Panjang Man in Sarikei.
Meanwhile, two more people have died in Sarawak due to Covid-19 and 661 new infections recorded today.
The state Disaster Management Committee said there were two deaths, one involving a woman aged 42 in Bekenu district, and the other a woman aged 38 in Sibu. Both died in hospital. This brings the state’s death toll to 380.
As for the news cases, Sibu recorded 134, followed by Kuching (88), Bintulu (72), Miri (43), Mukah (31), Sri Aman (31), Julau (29), Kapit (20) and other districts with fewer than 20 cases each.
There were also four new clusters detected today. The Jalan Usaha Jaya cluster in Kuching saw 13 factory workers infected in their workplace, while the Kg Tabuan cluster also in Kuching saw 12 villagers infected.
The Lorong Perlis Empat cluster in Miri involved 33 workers and the Kg Taba Sait cluster in Kuching saw 10 villagers infected. – The Vibes, June 20, 2021
