Man jailed 3 months for strangling girlfriend for not cooking

KUALA LUMPUR – For threatening, slapping and strangling his girlfriend after she refused to cook, a shop assistant was today jailed three months by the Selayang magistrates’ court.

Magistrate Nik Fadli Nik Azlan handed down the sentence after A. Hendry Kesavan, 26, pleaded guilty to two charges of threatening V. Shamne, 21, with a knife and voluntarily causing hurt against her at a house in Jalan Bukit Rawang Putra, Rawang, last Tuesday.

The court sentenced him to three months behind bars for each charge, and ordered him to serve both sentences concurrently from the date of his arrest on Wednesday.

Hendry became enraged when Shamne did not cook on the day of the incident, slapping her on the mouth, strangling her, and threatening her with a knife.

He was arrested the next day after the victim lodged a police report. – Bernama, June 21, 2021
