KUALA LUMPUR – New daily Covid-19 cases again remained in the high 5,000s today, with Malaysia recording 5,812 infections in the past 24 hours.
The Health Ministry said this takes the cumulative tally to 722,659. Of the new cases, 32 are imported.
It said 82 fatalities were also recorded, taking the death toll to 4,803.
While 6,775 recoveries were logged, 870 patients remain in intensive care, with 433 on breathing support.
Selangor again leads states with the highest number of cases, racking up 2,187 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (771), Sarawak (673), Negri Sembilan (658), Penang (270) and Melaka (223).
The states that saw fewer than 200 cases are Johor with 196, followed by Kedah (186), Sabah (156), Pahang (139), Labuan (123), Kelantan (98), Perak (72), Terengganu (46) and Putrajaya (14).
Perlis logged no new cases today.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 82 deaths involved 31 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (18), Johor (8), Negri Sembilan (5) and Sarawak (4).
Labuan, Pahang and Kedah recorded three deaths each, Penang and Kelantan (2 each), and Sabah, Perak and Melaka (1 each).
Eighteen of the fresh clusters today are related to the workplace, community (2) and detention centre (1).
In Selangor, the Tapak Bina Lebuh 2 cluster and Tapak Bina Jalan City cluster in Sepang recorded 28 and 49 infections, respectively, while the Industri Jalan Seruling 59 cluster in Klang logged 70, and the Industri SS Lapan Dua cluster, 115.
In the same state, the Industri Jalan Norton cluster in Kuala Langat recorded seven cases, the Jalan Cyberia Dua cluster (13), the Industri Km17 Rawang cluster in Gombak (9), and the Jalan Ampang Waterfront Dua cluster in Hulu Langat, Gombak and Kepong (39).
In Kuala Lumpur, the Tapak Bina Jalan Utara cluster in Lembah Pantai and Cheras recorded 16 cases, the Tapak Bina Matahari 2 cluster in Titiwangsa (142), the Jalan Taman Ibu Kota cluster in Titiwangsa (13), and the Jalan Raja Musa cluster in Titiwangsa (9).
Melaka saw the Jalan Nirwana Dua cluster in Melaka Tengah with 23 infections.
In Kelantan, the Wakaf Aik cluster Bachok and Kota Baru logged 13 cases.
Meanwhile, Penang registered the Jalan Kampung Jawa cluster in Northeast and Southwest districts with 14 cases.
In Perak, the Jalan Laksamana Intan cluster in Hilir Perak registered 14 cases, while the Kailan Tringkap cluster in Cameron Highlands and Kinta logged 17.
Kedah recorded the Dah 11 Industri Sg Petani cluster in Kuala Muda with 21 cases.
In Sarawak, the Jalan Kidurong Lima cluster in Bintulu and Sebauh recorded 20 cases, and the Km23 Puncak Borneo cluster in Kuching saw 65.
Terengganu registered the Pengkalan Gelugor cluster in Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu with 31 cases. – The Vibes, June 25, 2021
