IPOH – The Perak Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will call up several individuals in connection with allegations that a piece of government land in Bagan Tiang, Parit Buntar, has been awarded to a company.

Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said they would be called up in the near future to assist in the investigation under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 following allegations that a 19ha plot of land has been awarded to a private company for prawn farming.

“Among the witnesses to be called up include (individuals) from the Perak Agricultural Development Corporation (PPPNP) as well as district and land offices to give statements regarding the report lodged by Perak Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) recently.

“We have also recorded a statement from the complainant on the day the report was lodged and the case is still under investigation,” he said today.

On June 22, Perak AMK chief Muhamad Hairul Amir Sabri had lodged the report at the Perak MACC office which, among others, urged for an investigation be carried out on a company that had obtained permission for the land despite the fact that it was only formed in September last year and approval for the land given two months later. – Bernama, June 29, 2021
